My ancestors also departed Essenheim, during the drought years of the mid-1740s (confirmed by the parish register of the Lutheran church in Essenheim). When I visted Essenheim in 1996 (and examined the parish church bell, which has "Fischel", I believe, embossed upon it), it was pointed out that a Spanish regiment (company?) occupied Essenheim in 1620. Since I gather that Essenheim was a Protestant village of the Palatinate (and therefore in rebellion against the Empire), this was a hostile occupation characteristic of the early Thity Years' War. Does anyone know anything about that Spanish garrison? Its commanding officer? Regional composition? Thank you. Mark C. Fissel

I can understand written German, but do not write it well. I descend from Lorenz Kron and wife Anna Ursula Bender who left your area about 1745. Their daughter, Anna Ursula, married Jacob Arney in York County, Pennsylvania. Their son, Henry Arney born 1755, was my great great great great grandfather. I would love to hear from anyone in your area.

Hello Stefan, I think we might be cousins. My JUNGBLUTH family stems from UNDENHEIM,ALZEY,GERMANY. I don't have the data in front of me, but I note some striking similarities. I'm also related to MICHEL family. I live about 2 hours outside of Chicago,USA. My JUNGBLUTH family came to Wisconsin in 1843. Nicely organized family tree.-------Paul
